We are a diverse set of folks from Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, commonly known as IIT Kanpur or IITK, having a common interest in building an intelligent ground vehicle. Daksh, our flagship vehicle is the result of such interest. Daksh although being a general purpose vehicle, is specifically tuned for best performance in the Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition or IGVC.
We strongly belive in the power of open source. Much of the code including training data and AI models are open source and available on github.
At the heart of the software is the ROS framework, wiring various components together with ease. The mechanical system is modular too (can be disassembled and assembled on the go).
Manual take-over in case of erratic behaviour. For additional security, the vehicle can be instantaneously powered down at the push of a button.
One of the first participants in Robocon India, a famous robotics competiton first started in IIT Kanpur.
With the much hype around self driving cars, began our mission of creating a general purpose intelligent ground vehicle.
Acheived 5th place in the design competition and 11th in self-drive category, in the international debut run.
Secured 2nd overall along with notable positions in various sub-tasks, in the second ever participation in IGVC.
